Never really liked it as a kid , thought it was stupid, saw a few episodes a few years ago on UK gold (or similar) and thought it was hilarious.

As a kid in the 80s I absolutely loved his shows.

TV comedy is now dead and has been for a decade.

There's a song out there somewhere where he does a very passable impression of Dylan. Long time listerners of Danny Baker will have heard it.

Re: Benny Hill
He was a funny man ... a bit of an oddball ... but a funny man.
In those days the first question about comedy was , IS IT FUNNY?
Was he ‘sexist’? If he was people knew he was but still thought he was funny.
The first question these days about comedy is , WILL IT OFFEND SOMEONE?
And people bend over backwards to find something they can pretend to be offended by.
Hence we end up with turgid crap like Miranda and Citizen Khan.

Re: Benny Hill
90% of his stuff was stupid carry on bollocks, but he was a clever and witty wordsmith when he could be arsed.

And he was responsible for what remains the greatest joke of all time.

Chinese restaurant;

"Waiter, this chicken is bloody RUBBERY"

"Ah, fankoo velly much sah".

Re: Benny Hill
When he bought the farm there were loads of royalty cheques in a drawer in his bedroom that he couldn't be arsed to put in the bank. Big cheques for millions of dollars from NBC etc, years old. He just didn't give a fuck.

Re: Benny Hill
Cannot see the humour in " Mrs Browns Boys" personally, every other word is feck, and why hasn't the sisterhood blasted him for a man dressing as a woman, and not as a transgender, nowadays you cannot impersonate a black/ coloured ( never know the current term) person.
